Working with Emails
DonorPoint uses emails to serve several different functions:
- To send transaction receipts to purchasers
- To send system messages, for example, that an email has been scheduled to be sent
- To send notices that something is happening - an auction has been outbid, notice of a donation that has been made, etc. These notices are called AUTORESPONDERS and default autoresponders are created automatically in your DonorPoint account.
- To send emails to groups of donors, potential donors, or other groups of contacts
Transaction Receipts
Transaction receipts are sent to purchasers in a CONFIRMATION EMAIL. The confirmation email is found under Confirmation Email tab in the left-side menubar in your Catalogs and Single Page Forms. For Community Campaigns, the confirmation email is the default selection on the Email Templates tab of autoresponders for the campaign. You can edit and format the confirmation using the GUI tools found on the tab.

System Messages
These will arrive automatically in your Inbox in response to system activity, such a the scheduling of an email. You do not have to set or configure these emails.
Autoresponders
AUTORESPONDER emails are created automatically when you create your account, auctions, or other fundraisers in DonorPoint. They will be launched automatically in response to an action that takes place in the account or in the fundraiser, such as an auction outbid notice, processing of a recurring donation, notice of a gift membership, etc. Autoresponders can be configured to match your format and meet your specific needs.

Mass Emails to Targeted Groups of Contacts
You can use the EMAIL functionality in DonorPoint to send emails to groups of donors or potential donors or other groups of contacts that you define, and then track the responses, including OPENS, BOUNCES, UNSUBSCRIBES, and more.
Email functionality in DonorPoint consists of 3 parts:
- Mass Email - An MASS EMAIL sends a targeted message to a targeted group and allows you to do that over and over again. It consists of a DISTRIBUTION LIST and an EMAIL MESSAGE. See Email Distributions
- Lists - A EMAIL DISTRIBUTION LIST is a collection of email addresses assembled from the information in your system to whom your email message will be sent. See Distribution Lists
- Email Messages - An EMAIL MESSAGE is the email that you send to those on your distribution list. See Email Message
