Auctions
Auctions bring together a number of DonorPoint features:
- Item restrictions automatically enable bidding on your launch date, and automtically hide them when sales should end
- Winning bids are automtically charged after the end of the auction
- Email distributions for promotions, reminders and post-raffle solicitations
- Autoresponders for notifying bidders that they’ve been outbid, and prompting them to up their bid
- Reports and dashboards for management and comparison
Other DonorPoint items can be associated with an auction when it is published to your catalog:
- Donations in lieu of item purchase
- Corporate sponsorships
Creating an auction:
An auction contains the basic properties of name, the dates that you want to start and end accepting bids on your auction items, and the date that you want the high bidder of your items to be billed for their purchase.
- The billing date should be set for a day or two after the auction closes.
Auction items
AUCTION ITEMS are the items in your auction. Each auction item can have its own distinct starting and incremental bid prices, descriptive text, and an image, if desired. A stock image is provided for you, but you can replace it with a jpg or png image of your choice.
CUSTOM FIELDS can also be created on auction items to collect additional information from each purchaser. You can SELECT an existing custom field or create a new one. Add as many custom fields as you need.
You can have as many auction items as you wish.
Confirmations
The following are automatically created for you as part of your auction set up:
- A CONFIRMATION PAGE which the purchaser will see on their device when they have completed their purchase
- A CONFIRMATION EMAIL which will be sent to the purchaser after they have completed their purchase.
- !! These confirmations may be customized to your organization’s specifications. For details on how to do this, contact DonorPoint technical support at help@donorpoint.com.##
Auction autoresponders
Autoresponders in DonorPoint are emails that launch automatically in response to actions on your auction items or in the system, such as when a purchaser has been outbid on an item. Autoresponders also notify the high bidder that they have won an item, that payment has been made successfully, or, if neccesary, that additional credit card information is needed to complete the sale. Autoreponders are created when you set up your raffle; however, the boilerplate text of the emails can be customized if you wish. Contact technical support for assistance by sending an email to help@donorpoint.com.
