Employee Passwords
For private campaigns you have options on how to communicate password information to employees, The option you choose will have an impact on your account setup.
- Generated – Use DonorPoint generated passwords. Passwords are not imported, and are re-created on each invitation or reminder.
- Imported and Sent – This is the current best practice. Passwords are imported in the employee file, set either by the organization or by you. A custom ‘Imported Password’ field on employees is used to contain a plain-text copy of the password for use in merge tags in emails.
- Imported and Not Sent – When the organization has security rules against sending passwords in emails, the password is defined by information the employee knows, for example their ID and last four digits of the social security number. The password is sent by the organization in the employee file, and the rule for communicating it to the employee is added to invitation and reminder emails.
- Single Sign-On – For organizations using Single Sign-on, no passwords need to be imported. When the employee accesses a DonorPoint form, they are redirected to their company email/domain login. Once they have logged in using their workplace login credentials, DonorPoint will allow access to the form. This option requires coordination with your Information Technology department. As a convenience you can set passwords on users to simulate their login experience.
