Support for Opt Out of Campaign / Decline Participation
Workplace Campaigns can support the option to enable donors to opt out of the campaign, or decline to participate. Choosing to decline to participate creates a zero-dollar transaction linked to the donor in the Workplace Campaign. This records the donor’s preference, and automatically adds them to email lists of transactions to the campaign. If you are using these email lists to exclude existing donors from reminder emails, declines will also be excluded from reminders. Similarly declines will appear on response reports as they are responses to the campaign, but not on participation reports as their transaction has no value.
Support for declines is enabled in standard templates by adding a Custom Property Checkbox named ‘decline’ to the Workplace Campaign. Best practice is to enable declines only for private Workplace Campaigns, not open campaigns or Donate Now pages.
Workplace Managers with the permission to edit transactions can cancel a decline transaction like other pledges, enabling a donor who has changed their mind to participate in the campaign.
