Setting Up Pricing Options
There are four types of pricing you can set up for your DonorPoint items:
- Fixed
- Free
- Variable
- Multiple
Prices that you set up can be assigned again to different DonorPoint items.
Fixed Price
A FIXED price consists of a single price that your purchaser will pay for your item.
To create a fixed price and assign it to an item:
- Open/edit the item
- Scroll down and locate the PRICE field. Click on the “+” icon to create a new price.
- Set the TYPE of the price to FIXED PRICE.
- Enter the dollar amount into the PRICE field.
- Click on CREATE to save your price and assign it to the item. The name of the price will be the dollar amount you entered as the price.
Free Price
A FREE price creates an option with a price amount of $0.
To create a free price and assign it to an item:
- Open/edit the item
- Scroll down and locate the PRICE field. Click on the “+” icon to create a new price.
- Set the TYPE of the price to FREE PRICE.
- Confirm the NAME of the item as FREE or whatever name you want to assign.
- Click on CREATE to save your price and assign it to the item. The name of the price will be FREE or the name you entered.
Variable Price
A VARIABLE price allows the purchaser to enter the amount they wish to spend on an item. You can set a price range by assigning minimum and maximum values to the price.
To create a variable price and assign it to an item:
- Open/edit the item
- Scroll down and locate the PRICE field. Click on the “+” icon to create a new price.
- Set the TYPE of the price to VARIABLE PRICE.
- Confirm the NAME of the item as VARIABLE or whatever name you want to assign.
- Confirm the PROMPT text which will appear on your item form as a guide to your purchaser.
- If you want to set a dollar range for the price option enter the MINIMUM and MAXIMUM values into the appropriate fields.
- If you want to assign a DEFAULT VALUE to the price, enter it into the DEFAULT VALUE field.
- Click on CREATE to save your price and assign it to the item. The name of the price will be VARIABLE with the minimum and maximum values listed.
Multiple Option Price
A MULTIPLE OPTION price allows the purchaser to select from a preset list of price amounts. You can set as many price options as you wish by creating specific PRICE LEVELS within the multiple option.
To create a multiple option price and assign it to an item:
- Open/edit the item
- Scroll down and locate the PRICE field. Click on the “+” icon to create a new price.
- Set the TYPE of the price to MULTIPLE PRICING OPTION.
- Enter a NAME for your pricing option that will appear on your public form. Also enter an INTERNAL NAME, which will be the name that the DonorPoint system will use to refer to the item behind the scenes. The public will not see this name.
- Enter a PROMPT which will appear on your item form as a guide to your purchaser.
- Create PRICE LEVELS for each price option you wish to offer. To do this:
- Click on the CREATE NEW PRICE LEVEL button.
- Set the TYPE of the price to FIXED PRICE.
- Enter the dollar amount into the PRICE field.
- Click on CREATE to save your price to the list of price options. The name of the price will be the dollar amount you entered as the price.
- Enter as many price levels as you want to offer.
- SELECT TYPE to choose if you want to offer your price levels in a dropdown list or as radio buttons on your page.
- Click on CREATE to save your price and assign it to the item. The name of the price will be MULTIPLE OPTION.
Reusing Price Options
Prices that you set up can be assigned again to different DonorPoint items.
To reuse an existing price option on a new or existing item:
- Open/edit the item.
- Scroll down and locate the PRICE field. Click on the magnifying glass icon to activate the dropdown list of existing price options.
- Select the desired price option from the list.
- Be sure to SAVE the item to save your selection.
