Quick Start: Run an Event Registration

This guide walks you through creating an event registration page — from setting up the event, defining ticket types, and publishing a registration form.

Prerequisites

  • A DonorPoint account with a configured payment method
  • At least one Fund created for event revenue

Step 1: Create an Event

  1. Navigate to Activities → Events in the sidebar
  2. Click Create
  3. Enter a Name (e.g., “2026 Annual Gala”)
  4. Set the Date and Location
  5. Save

Step 2: Create Event Packages (Ticket Types)

Event Packages are the registration options — think of them as ticket types.

  1. On the Event edit page, go to the Packages tab
  2. Click Create
  3. Enter a Name (e.g., “Individual Ticket”, “Table of 10”)
  4. Set the Price via a Pricing Model
  5. Set the Fund for event revenue
  6. Set Capacity if the package is limited
  7. Save

Repeat for additional ticket types (VIP, Early Bird, Sponsor Table, etc.).

Step 3: Create a Campaign Form

Events need a Campaign to collect registrations online.

  1. Navigate to Campaigns & Forms and click Create
  2. Set the Campaign Type to Event
  3. Link the Event you just created
  4. Add the Event Packages as Items on the form
  5. Configure contact fields, payment methods, and confirmation settings
  6. Save

Step 4: Configure Event-Specific Options

On the Campaign edit page:

  • Waivers — add a liability waiver if needed (displayed during checkout)
  • Calendar Invite — enable automatic calendar invite (.ics) on the confirmation page
  • Agenda Items — if the event has breakout sessions, create Agenda Items that registrants can select

Step 5: Preview, Test, and Publish

  1. Preview the form and submit a test registration
  2. Verify the confirmation page, receipt email, and calendar invite
  3. Set the Campaign to Published and share the URL

Managing Registrations

After publishing:

  • View all registrations in Activities → Events → [Your Event] → Registrations
  • Each registration creates a Contact, Transaction, and Event Registration Instance
  • Use the Attendee List export for check-in sheets
  • Track capacity on the Event Packages tab
