Mass Email

Mass email (Email Solicitation) allows you to send a personalised message to a large list of constituents in a single operation. DonorPoint processes the send via Amazon SES, tracking deliveries, bounces, complaints, opens, and clicks.

How Mass Email Works

  1. Create an Email Solicitation with a name, from address, and schedule
  2. Assign a Distribution List (segment) as the recipient list
  3. Assign an Email Definition (the message content)
  4. Send immediately or schedule for a future date/time

DonorPoint renders each email individually at send time — every message is personalised using the recipient’s context. Merge tags and expression language in the template are evaluated for each recipient separately.

Scheduling Multiple Emails from a Collection

Most accounts group their related emails into an Email Collection — a set of email definitions that share an audience and a cadence (a campaign series, a renewal sequence, a workplace nudge schedule). From the Email Collection edit page you can schedule the entire series at once:

  1. Open the Email Collection.
  2. Click Schedule Multiple.
  3. For each email in the collection, set the send date / time and confirm the distribution list and from address (pre-populated from collection defaults).
  4. Submit.

DonorPoint creates one Email Solicitation per email in the collection, all scheduled at the times you specified. Subsequent edits to the collection’s email definitions are picked up at render time, so last-minute content tweaks land in the still-scheduled solicitations automatically.

Selecting Email Settings on Create

When creating a new Email Solicitation, DonorPoint pre-populates the From Address, Reply-To Address, and DKIM settings from the Email Settings record you select. If your account has multiple sending identities (for example a primary brand and a workplace federation brand), pick the right Email Settings up front to avoid having to override individual fields.

Test Email

Email Settings records expose a Test Email button on the edit page that sends a small validation message to a destination you specify. Use this to verify DKIM alignment and inbox placement before scheduling a large solicitation.

Email Solicitation Fields

Field Description
Name Internal name for tracking
From Address The sender name and email address shown to recipients
Distribution List The segment of contacts to receive this email
Email Definition The message template
Schedule Send now or at a future date/time
Status Draft, Scheduled, Sending, Sent, Cancelled

Delivery Tracking

After sending, the Email Solicitation record shows:

  • Sent — total emails sent
  • Delivered — confirmed deliveries
  • Bounced — undeliverable addresses (hard and soft)
  • Complained — recipients who marked the message as spam
  • Opened — tracked via a web beacon (pixel)
  • Clicked — tracked via link redirection

Bounce and complaint records are processed automatically and can suppress future emails to affected addresses.

Suppression

Contacts who have opted out, hard-bounced, or complained are suppressed from future sends. See Bulk Suppression for managing suppression lists.
