Social Media and Search Support

DonorPoint lets you engage supporters to share your pages on social media and optimises your pages for search engines. The same system works across forms, catalogs, and community campaigns.

The #{SOCIAL} Merge Tag

Insert #{SOCIAL} anywhere in your page template, form layout, or confirmation page to display social sharing icons. Donors click these to share to Facebook, Twitter/X, email, and other platforms you enable.

Setting Up Social Sharing

  1. Open the form and go to the SEO/Social Settings tab
  2. Check the enabled box for each platform you want to offer
  3. Set the title, description, and image that appear when the page is shared

The SEO/Social Settings tab includes a preview panel showing what a generic share will look like.

Facebook

DonorPoint uses Facebook’s Sharing API to present an attractive sharing prompt. You can specify the title, description, and image. Note: pre-populating the donor’s message is not possible (Facebook policy restriction).

Twitter/X

DonorPoint creates an attractive card tweet. You can set the default tweet content for donors to edit before posting.

Email Sharing

The email icon opens the donor’s email client with a pre-filled subject and plain-text message (browser restrictions prevent HTML email pre-population).

SEO/Social Settings Objects

SEO/Social Settings are reusable named objects that can be shared across multiple forms. Changing a settings object affects all forms using it. Create separate objects when different forms need different social content.

LinkedIn

For LinkedIn sharing, configure your LinkedIn form in the SEO/Social Settings. See the settings tab for the current supported options.

Search Engine Optimisation

The title and description configured in SEO/Social Settings also provide the Open Graph and meta description tags that search engines use when indexing your form pages.
