Sharing and URLs
Providing supporters with easy access to your forms is essential. DonorPoint gives you three ways to share: custom links (Redirect URLs), email merge tags, and QR codes.
Default URL
Every form has a canonical URL based on your account name and the form’s URL name. This is the permanent address for the form and is used by DonorPoint for social media metadata.
Redirect URLs (Custom Vanity URLs)
Redirect URLs are custom paths that point to a form, category, or item. They are easier to type and print than the default URL, and can be customised to match a campaign name or event.
The Sharing tab on forms, catalogs, categories, and items provides a standardised interface for managing Redirect URLs. To create one:
- Go to the Sharing tab on the form or item
- Click Add under Redirect URLs
- Enter the desired URL path
- Save
QR Codes
DonorPoint automatically generates QR codes for every Redirect URL. To get a QR code:
- Go to the Sharing tab
- Scroll to the bottom of the Redirect URL entry
- Three sizes of QR code are available — right-click to save as PNG
Tip: Name saved QR code files with the Redirect URL for easy identification, e.g., QR_AnnualFund2024.png. Always test a QR code by scanning it before printing.
On Community Campaign Sharing tabs, you may see a list of Redirect URLs for all fundraisers hosted on that site. Use the specific fundraiser’s URL entry for QR codes — the default QR code does not include the parameters needed for a specific fundraiser.
Sharing in Email
Use merge tags to insert form URLs in emails:
| Merge Tag | What It Inserts |
|---|---|
#{CAMPAIGNFORM} |
Full canonical URL of the form |
#{CAMPAIGNFORMSHORTURL} |
Short URL for the form |
#{LOGINLINK} |
Smart login link (context-aware for community/team campaigns) |
#{MEMBERURL} |
Donor’s personal fundraising page URL |
Social Sharing
The #{SOCIAL} merge tag renders social sharing icons on confirmation pages and form layouts. Configure which platforms to enable and what content they share on the SEO/Social Settings tab of the form. See Social Media and Search.
Customizing the Sharing Tab
The Sharing tab itself is extensible. Two customization hooks let you add account-specific content above or below the standard Sharing UI without modifying core templates:
- Sharing tab prefix — XHTML rendered at the top of the Sharing tab, before the Redirect URLs section
- Sharing tab suffix — XHTML rendered at the bottom of the Sharing tab, after the QR codes section
Use these to embed account-wide branding guidance, custom share-link generators (for example links pre-loaded with employer or matching-gift parameters), staff-only operational tools, or supplementary QR codes generated by external systems. Hooks are configured in account customization settings and apply to every Sharing tab in your account.
