Category Pages
Category Pages are named groupings of Items that appear as browsable sections within a Catalog. They give donors a way to navigate a large catalog by topic, cause, or type rather than scrolling through a single flat list.
A Category Page can have its own:
- Name and description displayed as a section heading in the catalog
- Image shown as a banner or thumbnail for the category
- Items — the specific Items that appear within this category
- Visibility dates — the category and all its items can be hidden before or after specific dates
- Parent categories — categories can be nested, creating a hierarchy within the catalog
Creating a Category Page
- Navigate to Catalogs in the sidebar
- Open the Catalog you want to add a category to
- Go to the Categories tab and click Create
- Enter a name, description, and optional image
- Add Items to the category using the Items tab
- Set visibility dates if the category should only appear during a specific window
Category Hierarchy
Categories can have parent categories, allowing multi-level navigation (for example, “Programs” containing “Education”, “Health”, and “Environment” sub-categories). Items can belong to multiple categories.
Relationship to Items
The Items in a Category Page are the same Items defined in the Items section — the Category Page simply determines how they are organized and displayed in the catalog. Pricing, restrictions, custom fields, and scripting are all managed on the Item itself.
See Items for the full reference on configuring Items, and Working with Catalogs for the catalog setup overview.
